LifeScienceHistory.com: Where history is made daily -– is coming soon, bringing you the history making news of the past and present, because history is made daily.

A new features that we'll provide relates to the lighter side of life science that we call "Toons and Teasers" where we have select editorial cartoons, posters and related images from the past related to the FDA, hazardous products, health crisis, and other issues.

Additionally, we will provide one original cartoon monthly that mirror current life science events in an entertaining and thought provoking historical context. Our first cartoon "Science and Reason" will be delivered as a four-panel puzzle. We hope you enjoy our creations.

National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW) is an annual observance to highlight the importance of protecting infants from vaccine-preventable diseases and celebrate the achievements of immunization programs and their partners in promoting healthy communities.

Since 1994, NIIW has served as a call to action for parents, caregivers, and healthcare providers to ensure that infants are fully immunized against 14 vaccine-preventable diseases.

Frostban was sprayed on an acre of strawberry plants in Brentwood, CA, marking the first release of genetically altered bacteria in the US. On April 24, 1987, Advanced Genetic Sciences (AGS) sprayed Frostban on an acre of strawberry plants in Brentwood, CA, marking the first release of genetically altered bacteria in the U.S.

Stephen Lindow at the University of Wisconsin–Madison identifed the bacterium as P. syringae, and in 1977, discovered the mutant ice-minus strain. In 1983, AGS applied to the U.S. regulatory authorities to perform field tests with the ice-minus strain of P. syringae, but were delayed by environmental concerns. In the end, frostban was never marketed.
